In 1965 Lester Stroud and Morris Larimore, members of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, felt called of the Lord to open a mission in Marengo, Indiana. In June of 1965 they began with a week-end revival at the Gospel Mission. Services continued each week throughout 1965 and 1966. Services were later discontinued due to the poor building and parking conditions and low attendance. However, the Lord used the services to give them strength and courage. Even though they agreed that the services should close, they still felt that the Gospel Mission had served its purpose. Lester Stroud accepted the call to pastoral work in another church, and they agreed that the furnishings and the treasury would remain intact, because Morris Larimore believed in the necessity of a mission church.
In the Spring of 1967 Rev. and Mrs. Morris Larimore felt led by the Lord, that the time was at hand for obtaining land and to begin constructing a new mission church. They continued in prayer and to look for a building site. By guidance of the Holy Spirit Brother and Sister Joe A. Stonecipher of Marengo, Indiana felt led to go and volunteer their financial aid in supporting the Larimores in the ministry of the Lord. After a brief discussion of their call of the Lord to start a mission church, a loan was made to purchase ground and to construct a basement in which they would begin services.
Construction began in April 1967. In June the church opened with full time services in what was called "The Marengo Mission Church"
Rev. Morris Larimore as Pastor. They continued under this name until December 29, 1967, when they incorporated under the name of "The Marengo Christian's Missionary Church, Incorporated." The Marengo Christian's Missionary Church was the first church to have been organized under the new corporation in January 1968 with 23 charter members.
In mid summer of 1980, Morris and Anita Larimore, pastors of the Marengo Christian's Missionary Church, were led by the Holy Spirit to step down as pastors of the Marengo Church to establish another church. In the fall of 1980, ground was purchased in New Salisbury, IN to build the New Salisbury Christian's Missionary Church. Services were held in a house on the property. In July 1981, construction began on the new building, where the Larimores served for 24 years.
In 2004, Morris and Anita were led to begin a new work in Carefree, IN. Ground was donated to build a church there. Services began November 28, 2004 and will be temporarily held in a mobile home in Carefree pending the completion of the church.
"Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it". Psalm 127:1
In 2004, Randy Coleman became the head Pastor at the New Salisbury Christian's Missionary Church and Paul Walerczak became the Associate Pastor. Pastor Coleman led the church until 2007 when he resign so he could spend more time in Florida, since he had just retired from his Teaching position at Corydon High School.
In 2007, Paul Walerczak became the head Pastor at the New Salisbury Christian's Missionay Church and Joel Culbertson the Youth Pastor. Pastor Paul remained head Pastor until October 2010 when he resigned to spend more time with his wife and 5 children.
It was then that Pastor Coleman came back as the head Pastor. Today we are pleased to have Pastor Randy Coleman and Mickey Moore as Associate Pastor.
